EZ Certification
Certification is required prior to
receiving incentives through the Broome County EZ. This is New
York State law and can not be waived by the EZ staff.
To be certified, a business:
- Must be within the Broome County EZ or relocating to the Zone.
Check our maps,
or call the Zone Coordinator, to find out if you are in the zone.
- Must meet the requirements set forth within the Broome County EZ
Development Policy, specifically pertaining to job creation and
capital investment within the Zone.
- Must pass a Cost Benefit Analysis
- Must correctly complete and submit a certification application
Once all the
above steps have been successfully completed, the business can move
forward with the certification process.
The application goes before the Zone Administration Board (ZAB)
for approval. Then the
local Zone Certifying Officer (ZCO) must approve the application.
Once local approval has been achieved, then the Zone Coordinator
forwards the application to the State for final approval.
The approval process can take several months.
